According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Duane Brown is expected to continue his holdout into training camp. The Texans are scheduled to begin football activities tomorrow in West Virginia, and it doesn’t look like Duane Brown will be there unless he and the Texans agree on a new deal. StateoftheTexans‘, Patrick Starr, is reporting that Brown did not make the team flight to West Virginia, so it looks like this holdout is happening. ESPN’s, Field Yates, has also reported that Brown has a de-escalator in his contract that has cost him $250,000 for his missed time this offseason. Brown doesn’t have any guaranteed money left on his deal, and he is looking for some insurance in case an injury occurs before the season starts. He is also fully aware that he is the best o-lineman on the team, and the Texans will really need him this year to protect the injury-prone Tom Savage, or rookie QB Deshaun Watson.
Looks like first holdout of summer is here: Texans OT Duane Brown, who skipped OTAs, not expected to show up for camp opening, per source.
