MLB.com’s, Jonathan Mayo, has the Astros selecting Jake Burger with the 15th overall pick in the draft tonight. Burger is a power hitting 3B from Missouri State and he is expected to be selected if the Astros opt to go after pitching later in the draft. Burger is listed at 6-2 weighing 210 pounds. He hit .328 this season with 22 homers and 65 RBI.
Draft analyst, Jim Callis, has another player in mind for the Astros when they select at 15 overall. Callis has the Astros selecting Vanderbilt OF, Jeren Kendall. Kendall is listed at 6 feet tall and 180 pounds. He batted .307 this year with 15 homers and 55 RBI. Both analysts believe the Astros will only go this route if a pitcher they covet doesn’t fall to them in the middle of the first round. You can check out the rest of the mock draft here.
