Mattress Mack: I’ve always wanted to own a sports franchise

Yesterday, Jim McIngvale (Mattress Mack) caught up with Joel and Barry on The Usual Suspects and talked about putting a group together to buy the Houston Rockets. Mack said he would focus on marketing the team, and leave the basketball decisions to the front office if he is able to acquire the team. McIngvale has been involved with the Rockets since the 80s and thinks that it’s very important to keep the team in Houston because they play an important role in the community. He has always wanted to own a franchise in Houston, and hopes that he is able to make a deal for the team. The asking price looks to be around $1.85 billion for the Rockets, and the key to making the deal happen will be all about lining up the right group of investors.
