Eric Bischoff clarifies opinion on women in Hell in a Cell match

This week’s edition of Bischoff on Wrestling saw Eric explain why he is not too fond of the Hell in a Cell match between, Raw Women’s Champion, Sasha Banks and Charlotte.

After sharing his disinterest in the match’s gimmick on last week’s episode, Eric explains this week that he has no problem with the performers, in fact, he is a big fan of both Sasha and Charlotte. He believes, simply, that it is just “not the style or the presentation of the match that [he] wants to see athletes, like these two athletes, engage in. It’s a style issue. It’s taste.”

Many fans were upset with Eric comments and regarded them to being an issue with the evolution of women’s wrestling. Eric, again, explains that his disinterest has nothing to do with whether they deserve it or not.

Eric, then, goes on to explain how significant Hell in a Cell matches can really be. He explains that there are certain “expectations” for that match, and that it is a very “dangerous match.”  For Eric, it is hard to see both Sasha and Charlotte, who he’s “known since she was eight”, in this match because of those preconceived expectations.

Eric’s concerns are legitimate. There is no doubt that Sasha and Charlotte are great wrestlers and performers. One must admit, though, that there have been a couple of questionable in-ring decisions between both wrestlers during their current feud- like Charlotte dropping Sasha on the ropes back first knowing she was working with an injury. There is no doubt that they will have a match worthy of the main event spot General Manager Mic Foley has teased, but the concerns still remains.

Also on this weeks episode, Eric and Nick discuss the return of Goldberg to WWE, and provide an update to the issues within TNA. Plus, Eric shares his conversation with former WWE writer Court Bauer. To close the show, Eric and Nick talk to WWE’s newest internet sensation, James Ellsworth.
