Today on Granato and Raheel with Del, the guys talked about an article posted on NFL.com that ranks the NFL’s top coaches. Bill Belichick came in at number one, no surprise there, and all the new head coaches for this season finished at the bottom of the list. Texans head coach, Bill O’Brien, ranked number eighteen on the list, and John thinks that he has a chance to be a really good NFL coach. O’Brien does have his detractors and imperfections, and he could stand to improve by being more lenient and simplifying his offense.

O’Brien is getting better
Coaches need time to learn just like players do, and Bill had to have learned a lot after working with Brock Osweiler last year. His approach is more hands on this season, and that was apparent during OTAs and mini-camp. O’Brien was working personally with the QBs and calling the plays into their helmets. This year will help answer if O’Brien is a middle of the pack coach, or if the roster is middle of the pack. Finally, John ranked the top three coaches on his personal list. He has Belichick ranked first with Pete Carroll and Bruce Arians finishing behind him.
You can check out the article on NFL.com if you would like to see their full list.
