MLB.com’s, Brian McTaggart, joined Granato and Raheel with Del and talked about the Astros hot start to the season and their huge series this weekend against the Texas Rangers. Brian also shared his thoughts on the health or Charlie Morton and Joe Musgrove. Musgrove is expected to be back on Tuesday in Kansas City, but Morton’s return date is still unknown.
The Astros just need a quality middle of the rotation pitcher
McTaggart doesn’t think the Astros will go after Gerrit Cole because there will be a lot of teams after him, and the price for a trade will be high. The team already has two top of the rotation pitchers in Keuchel and McCullers, so a trade for a number three or four starter is much more likely. John Granato thinks that the Astros should go after a front-line pitcher to really push them over the top. John also asked if the Rangers might be looking to deal Yu Darvish if they fall completely out of the playoff race. McTaggart said it could happen because he is a free agent after the season, and the Rangers minor league system is depleted.
The Astros should play loose
The Astros don’t have nearly the pressure on them to beat the Rangers this year because the team has gotten off to such a great start. McTaggart expects the Astros to play well and win two out of three games.
