Luhnow: Astros starters expected back around All-Star break

Astros general manager, Jeff Luhnow, caught up with John and Raheel and talked about the health of the starting pitching staff, his thoughts on his haul from the draft this week, and the upcoming series with the Red Sox.

Jeff also talked about the trade conversations that are being had right now, and how the wild card is keeping a lot of teams in the race. With so many teams unsure if they will be buyers or sellers, he doesn’t expect any movement until we get closer to the trade deadline.

Elian Rodriguez could be a top 10 pitching prospect for the Astros next year

Finally, Jeff talked about their recent signing of Cuban pitcher, Elian Rodriguez, and their expectation that he will make a big impact after he gets some experience over the next year. The 6’4″, 205-pound RHP has added velocity since leaving Cuba and can throw in the mid to high 90s. Rodriguez also features a slider and curve, complimented by a rarely used changeup.
