Today on Unfiltered, Sean Salisbury and Brian Barrett, who is in for Granato as he is on vacation, talked about the Astros’ blowout win over the Braves yesterday, and the scary moment when Carlos Correa left the game with a thumb injury. Correa’s x-rays fortunately came back negative and he hopes to play today if there aren’t any setbacks. With the Correa scare in the rear view mirror, Sean and Brian were very impressed with the pitching from Brad Peacock yesterday, and his ability to deal with the difficulty that arises when innings go long because of a blowout.
Later, the guys discussed Chris Devenski not making the All-Star team and Dallas Keuchel’s efforts to try and get him added to the ball club. Keuchel won’t be able to pitch in the All-Star game due to injury, and the American League only has two relief pitchers total on the squad. Relievers seem to have a tough time making the team with so many starters making the roster each year.
Finally, the Texas Rangers are struggling and they may end up being sellers at the trade deadline. The Rangers won a lot of close games because of their strong bullpen last year, but this year is the exact opposite. If things continue like this for the Rangers, they may be looking to trade Yu Darvish as the deadline approaches.
