Yesterday on The Blitz, Fred and A.J. had a discussion about a recent article that named the 10 best bargains in baseball. The player that was considered to be the best bargain is Houston’s own, Jose Altuve. Altuve is playing on a 4-year, 12.5 million dollar deal. He is making 4.5 million dollars this year and after the team option is exercised he will make 6 million next year and 6.5 million dollars in 2019. What an incredible deal for a player in his twenties who already has two batting titles to his name.

The Astros should offer Altuve a new deal

Fred and A.J. think the Astros should work on signing Altuve to a five-year extension that pays him 12 or 13 million dollars for this season. Jose has the option of waiting for his deal to expire and cashing in when he hits free agency, or taking a team-friendly deal that would pay him a substantial amount of money right away.
