About Joel Blank

Joel Blank joins the Gow Media team after 8 seasons as analyst and studio host for Houston Rockets radio broadcasts and host of Rockets TV. In addition to his on-air duties, Blank served as Director of Broadcasting for the Rockets. A 22+-year member of the Rockets front office, Blank oversaw all aspects of broadcasting, including television, cable television, radio, Spanish radio, announcers, in-house broadcast production, contracts and affiliate relations. Blank won numerous awards, including national Telly and American Advertising Federation Awards and several local honors. He was also a member of the the NBA Broadcasting Advisory Board, 1 of only 5 in the country. Previously, Blank was Assistant Director of Broadcasting for the Portland Trail Blazers from 1991-94, where he coordinated the Tournament of the Americas, featuring the original Olympic Dream Team. Prior to joining the Blazers, Blank was the sales and marketing manager, as well as graphic artist, for the LaCrosse Catbirds of the CBA from 1988-90.

A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Blank was a four-year letter winner as a starting pitcher on the Eagles baseball team. An avid golfer, Blank lives in Sugar Land with his wife Lisa Hernandez, KHOU 11 News Anchor, their baby daughter Taylor
