Houston Texans Have A Great Deal Of Cap Space

What will they do with it?

There was a time when your Houston Texans weren’t exactly awash in cap space in comparison to other teams. That’s no longer the case, thanks in large part to the Texans’ bold strategy of not signing a free agent who wasn’t on their team last year. With Tony Bergstrom’s release today, the Texans now boast more than $31 million in cap room.

Compared to the rest of the NFL, Bob McNair’s organization is swimming in cap dollars.

The Colts’ cap space, however, isn’t what it was at the time that tweet was initially sent.

Back to the Texans—at this stage of the free agency game, it’s rather unlikely that the team will make any kind of splash. What’s considerably more likely is that the organization uses a good chunk of that space to extend existing players. I reckon DeAndre Hopkins is that the top of potential candidates for that treatment.

You know, Nuk…the dude who has been making catches like this since he was knee-high to a grasshopper.
